Gabbys C Note shines in Ohio Sires Stakes

Columbus, OH — Gabbys C Note established her dominance in Friday’s (Aug. 26) $75,000 Ohio Sires Stakes event for 3-year-old trotting fillies at Eldorado Scioto Downs.

Leaving from post four, 3-5 favorite Gabbys C Note had her eyes on the prize from the start. Driven by Aaron Merriman, the daughter of Triumphant Caviar refused to be put into the pocket by 9-5 second choice Criquette Hall. Gabbys C Note gained control of the field around the first turn and never looked back, posting fractions of :27.1, :57.1 and 1:26.3 before cruising across the finish in 1:55.1. Criquette Hall (Chris Page) was second; Kirsi Dream (Chris Lems) was third.

Gabbys C Note has tallied seven victories in nine seasonal starts and has banked $153,750. The sophomore has now won three Ohio Sires Stakes events this year.

Gabbys C Note’s dominance is not unique to 2022. Last year, she was named Ohio’s 2-Year-Old Filly Trotter of the Year for trainer Chris Beaver, who shares ownership with Johanna Beaver and Steven Zeehandelar. Her freshman victories included the Ohio State Fair as well as the $300,000 Ohio Sires Stakes Championship. The filly is now only $3,100 shy of surpassing $400,000 in lifetime earnings.

Live racing action at Eldorado Scioto Downs returns on Saturday (Aug. 27); first post is 3:15 p.m. For more information on the facility and live racing season, visit the Eldorado Scioto Downs website.
