Meadows Monday Memo: April 17

Washington, PA — Here is this week’s Meadows Monday Memo.

RACING THIS WEEK
We are currently in our four-day per week racing schedule for the remainder of the Spring and Summer. At this time, we are racing Wednesday through Saturday at 12:45 p.m. We will switch to Friday evening racing in late May.

100 WINS
By capturing the final race of the week on Saturday afternoon with Americanlightning N, Dave Palone became the first driver at The Meadows this season to reach 100 wins. He is followed on the leaderboard by Ronnie Wrenn Jr. (91) and Aaron Merriman (61). Wrenn is tops in UTR at .418, with Palone at .374.

FOUR STRAIGHT FOR PRESTO
Trainer Brandon Presto got off to a great start last week, with an unusual accomplishment on Wednesday. Presto sent five horses to the gate for the afternoon, and finished with four wins and a second place finish. But rather than having his horses spread out throughout the card, the luck of the draw put all of his horses in consecutive races, resulting in four straight wins — races 2, 3, 4 and 5. Fashion’s Way won the second, followed by Miss Lucy Ivy in the third, Partymode in the fourth, and Loudoo Princess in the fifth. Presto’s other horse, Twin B Hello, finished second to Miss Lucy Ivy. Three different drivers joined him in the winner’s circle — Dave Palone (race 2), Mike Wilder (race 3) and Aaron Merriman (races 4 and 5). Not to be outdone, after winning two straight with Presto’s horses, Merriman returned to the winner’s circle in races 6 and 7, driving for trainers Bill Bercury and Carl Cocciolone.
