Randy Edmonds, 67, dies

Columbus, OH — Randy James Edmonds, 67, died April 27, 2023, in Ann Arbor, Mich., surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 6, 1956, at Community Hospital in Battle Creek to Cleve and Verna (Moldenhauer) Edmonds.

He is survived by his wife, Robin (Dohn); daughter, Brandy (Nicole); sons, Bryce, Taylor and Nicholas (Alyssa); granddaughters, Kenzie, Melody and Skyler; brother, Ron (Sofia); and nephews, Andrew and David.

Mr. Edmonds followed in his father’s footsteps, training and driving Standardbreds throughout the United States and Canada, where he amassed over 1,000 wins in a career spanning over 40 years.

When the harness racing industry took a downturn within the United States, he fell back to his roots in the manufacturing industry where he remained dedicated to his work and was well liked among his co-workers.

Mr. Edmonds enjoyed riding his motorcycle in the warm Michigan summers, as well as rooting for the home team during whichever sports were in season.

He always found great enjoyment in the company of family and friends; from socializing with co-workers, to long visits with family members throughout the country, to casual conversations among his expanding list of friends. Though life kept him busy, he always made time for others, something his friends and family will never forget.

Mr. Edmonds was always focused on both reminiscing of good times that had been, as well as looking forward to more memories to make with those surrounding him.

A reception of family and friends will take place on Saturday (May 13) from 1-4 p.m. at the Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, MacDonald’s Chapel of Howell.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
