Nichols, NY – Sports Bettor (Tyler Miller) captured the featured $10,000 pace at Tioga Downs on Friday (May 19).

Sports Bettor ($14.40) took the lead just before hitting the quarter first in :28.1. He used a :30.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :58.3. Foo Fighter N (Bruce Aldrich Jr.) was first to make a move going first-up down the backstretch. Foo Fighter N grabbed a short lead and led to three-quarters in 1:25.4.

As they reached the stretch Sports Bettor battled back to take the lead. Second place finisher Sports Box (Ridge Warren) came flying late but couldn’t get to Sports Bettor who won in 1:55.0. Fred’s Night (Aaron Byron) finished third.

Sports Bettor is an 11-year-old gelding by Sportswriter. He is owned by Rocco Stebbins and trained by Joe “Scooter” Skowyra. It was his first win this season. He now has 32 career victories.

Wally Hennessey and Mike Merton each had driving doubles on the card.
