Jive Dancing A upsets in Yonkers distaff

Yonkers, NY — Sent off at 22-1, Jive Dancing A was a first-over, 1:53.2 winner in Friday night’s (July 28) featured $36,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace at MGM Yonkers Raceway.

Man Dontforget Me, driven by Braxten Boyd, cut fractions of :27, :57 and 1:25.2 after blasting to the point from post four, but Jive Dancing A and driver Austin Siegelman came first-up from fourth late on the third turn and advanced into second at three-quarters.

On the final bend, Man Dontforget Me fought to stave off Jive Dancing A’s bid, but that changed in the lane as Jive Dancing A pressed into command midway through the drive. From there, Jive Dancing A kept 4-5 favorite Lit De Rose (Pat Lachance) a half length at bay after she tried to go by from second-over. Karma Seelster (Jason Bartlett) finished third.

A 9-year-old Rock N Roll Heaven mare, Jive Dancing A is trained by Nick DeVita for owner Queen Of Hearts Stables. Her 42nd career win elevated her lifetime earnings to $567,377, and she paid $46.40 to win.

That result, added to three other favorites being defeated during the card’s Pick-5, led to nobody having a winning ticket. Therefore, there will be a $5,259.99 carryover in Saturday’s (July 29) sequence and a $15,000 guaranteed pool offered as part of the United States Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering Program. Free past performances for the Pick-5, courtesy of TrackMaster, will be available here. The Pick-5, which begins in race five, has a takeout rate of 20 percent.

MGM Yonkers Raceway currently hosts live racing on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings with post time at 7 p.m. (EDT).
