Pat McGarry A once again dominates Pocono feature

Wilkes-Barre, PA — For the second straight week at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania, Pat McGarry A romped in the featured condition pace to highlight the Saturday afternoon (July 29) card. It was the third straight win at Pocono overall for the 7-year-old Million Dollar Cam gelding trained by Jenn Bongiorno.

After he had won the feature on July 22 by 6-1/4 lengths, it was no surprise that the Pocono betting public made Pat McGarry A the 1-5 favorite in a field of six for Saturday’s $18,500 top-level conditioned pace. After getting away fourth from post two, the favorite was sent by driver Anthony Napolitano after the lead on the frontstretch, and he slipped past Mirragon A to get there. From there, no first-over pressure was able to bother Pat McGarry A, and he started to open the lead up wide, eventually coming home five lengths in front of second-place Casual Cool in 1:49.3. Gentle Giant picked up show.

Pat McGarry A now has won three straight overall at Pocono, all with sub-1:50 times on the five-eighths-mile oval. The victory was his fourth in 18 races and his 25th in his career, with his lifetime earnings taking a jump to $234,926 with the winner’s share of the purse.

Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania’s next live card takes place on Sunday night (July 30) with a first post time of 6 p.m. EDT and a dozen races on the program.
