MacDonald wins four including feature at Vernon

Vernon, NY — Driver John MacDonald had a grand slam including a win in the $5,500 featured trot with Sweet Sofie T on Saturday (Aug. 5) at Vernon Downs.

In the feature American JJ (Michael Miller) led to the quarter in :29.2. He used a :30.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :59.4. SVF Cash Deposit (Barton Dalious) came first-over and battled with American JJ all around the final turn. American JJ was first to three-quarters in 1:29.1.

As they reached the stretch second place finisher American JJ shook off SVF Cash Deposit. Sweet Sofie T ($15.40) squeezed through along the pylons and slipped by to win in 1:58. Katkin Morgan (Jimmy Whittemore) finished third.

Sweet Sofie T is a 6-year-old mare by Conway Hall. She is owned by Regina Dewhurst and trained by David Dewhurst. It was her fifth win this season and her 20th career victory.

J-Mac got his other wins with Freak On A Leash ($6.00), Billy V ($3.30), and Sgt Papa Daddy ($3.30).

Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Friday (Aug. 11) at 4 p.m.
