Joesstar Of Mia A wins Pocono featured pace Saturday

Wilkes-Barre, PA – Joesstar Of Mia A led at every pole and hung on late for a victory in Saturday afternoon’s (Aug. 12) feature pace at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania.

The race was for non-winners of $20,000 in the last four starts and carried a purse of $16,500.

Joesstar Of Mia A left from post position four in a field of eight as the 5-1 third choice. By the quarter pole, he had worked his way to the lead, and then he received excellent pace-rating from driver Anthony Napolitano, especially during a second panel of :29:2.

After shrugging off the first-over charge of Hesa Kingslayer N, the Aussie-bred had to hold tight as the 4-5 favorite Ken Hanover, last seen facing other 3-year-olds for $350,000 in the Adios at The Meadows, came charging up late. Joesstar Of Mia A found just enough to hold off Ken Hanover by a head in 1:49:4. Code Cracker finished third.

The win was the fifth win in 15 races this year for Joesstar Of Mia A, a 10-year-old gelding sired by Roll With Joe, trained by Gareth Dowse, and owned by Dowse Racing Inc. of Marshall’s Creek, PA. It was his 46th lifetime victory and pushed his career earnings to $635,330.

Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania resumes live racing on Sunday night (Aug. 13) with a first post time of 1 p.m. ET. There are 14 races on the Pocono Sunday night card.
