Stockade Seelster records new career best in OSS Gold win

Milton, ON — Stockade Seelster won the fifth race Friday night (Sept. 1) at Woodbine Mohawk Park, a C$158,100 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold division for 3-year-old pacing colts and geldings.

Jody Jamieson kept Stockade Seelster (State Treasurer) off the pace set by leader Moment Is Here (All Bets Off) and driver James MacDonald, through fractions of :26.1, :53.2, and 1:21. In the backstretch, Stockade Seelster overtook Moment Is Here, and Macs Delight (Bettor’s Delight), driven by Jonathan Drury, challenged Moment Is Here in the battle for second. Stockade Seelster crossed the wire first in a time of 1:48.4 to set a new career best.

“He always does nothing but impress,” said Jamieson. “I just kind of took my time getting there.”

Stockade Seelster is a 14-time winner and has made C$1,334,391 over the course of his career for owners Sally MacDonald and Paul MacDonald. He has also collected C$215,721 in OSS earnings this year. The State Treasurer colt is trained by Dr. Ian Moore and paid $3.10 for the win.

“He just digs back in and goes, he’s an awesome horse,” said Jamieson.

In race three, Mist Amber (Betterthancheddar) won the first of two C$101,300 Gold divisions for 3-year-old pacing fillies. Sylvain Filion and Mist Amber sat off the pace set by One Last Wish (Bettor’s Delight) and eventually found room to fly home and win as they were four across at the line in a time of 1:50.3.

For her first OSS win, Mist Amber collected C$50,650 in earnings for owner John Pentland.

The second division of the night for 3-year-old pacing fillies was race eight on the card and Savethelastdance (Bettor’s Delight), driven by James MacDonald, came away with the win, crossing the wire at 1:51.3. The filly has made C$232,534 over the course of her career for owner Millar Farms.
