Big Saturday coming up at Solvalla

Some of Europe’s best trotters will meet at Solvalla Saturday afternoon (Oct. 14) on the richest day at a Swedish racetrack ever, as the total purse money is $2.6 million.

Twelve elder top trotters will meet in the UET Circuit Final, with a purse for the winner of $255,000.

Italian owned and trained Vivid Wise As with Matthieu Abrivard in the bike will have his first start since the victory in the MGM Yonkers International Trot last month and is the likely favorite. He will meet this year’s winner of the Elitlopp, Hohneck of France with Gabriele Gelormini in the bike, and San Moteur of Sweden with Björn Goop, who finished second.
The distance is 1-5/16th miles.

The second richest race on the card is the European Trotting Derby, the UET Grand Prix, also raced over 1-5/16th miles, for 4-year-old trotters and with a purse for the winner of $220,000. Twelve trotters have qualified for this final and one of the favorites is the Swedish Derby winner Joviality with Erik Adielsson.

The Svensk Trav Kriterium and the Svensk Trav-Oaks are also on the card. Both races are for 3-year-old Swedish born trotters. The Kriterium has a purse for the winner of $182,500 and the Oaks $137,000. If the winner is entered in the Premiechancen the purse will be doubled.

A Swedish trotter is automatically entered in the Premiechancen, and the owner has two choices, either to take a premium of 20,000 SEK when the horse is a 2-year-old or skip the 20,000 SEK and get double purse money in stake races such as the Kriterium.
