El Rey sells for $525,000, tops onGait auctions Friday

Boca Raton, FL — The Captaintreacherous sophomore colt El Rey p,3,1:48.3, brought a winning bid of $525,000 from Andrew Harris of New Jersey on Friday afternoon at onGait.com.

The 2022 Governor’s Cup winner in 1:49.2, this year El Rey has faced the best in his division again, winning two legs of the Kentucky Sire Stakes Commonwealth Series at The Red Mile and finished a close second to Confederate in a Meadowlands Pace elimination (timed in 1:47.3). In his latest start, he was flying in the stretch to just miss capturing a Tattersalls division from Cannibal. The partnership of Brittany Farms LLC and El Rey Racing were the consignors.

Currently in the auction ring are Lovevolution p,2,1:54, a stakes winning 2-year-old half-sister to the brilliant See You At Peelers; Captain Planet p,2,1:54, a Captaintreacherous 3-year-old who won two starts back in 1:54.2h and second in 1:53h in his most recent; and Wallandar 3,1:56.3f, a race ready 3-year-old son of Walner from the Julie and Andy Miller Stable.
