Washington, PA – Here is this week’s Meadows Monday Memo.

GUARANTEED POOL TO START THE WEEK

Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will start the week with a guaranteed pool in the early Pick-4 on Wednesday (Oct. 18), which starts in race one. In conjunction with the USTA’s Strategic Wagering Program and the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association, we will guarantee the pool to $7,500. The carryover from the final Pick-4 on Friday (Oct. 20) is $2,858.

MACDONALD DRIVING AT .340+ CLIP

Anthony MacDonald has become well known for his TheStable.ca operation, but this season at The Meadows he has been putting up strong numbers as a driver, both with his own horses and as a catch driver. MacDonald is third overall in UDRS rating at The Meadows, with a .347 rating. He was won 46 of 227 drives (20.7%). Both of those numbers put him in third place behind Dave Palone and Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. Palone is #1 in wins (317), #2 in UDRS (.386), while Wrenn is #2 in wins (223) and #1 in UDRS (.421).

PIRILLO STABLE SHARP

Trainer Justin Pirillo is having perhaps the best season of his career at The Meadows. Through Friday, he has trained 37 winners among 191 starts (19.45) with a trainer rating of .326 and purse earnings approaching $300,000 for the year. He ranks second in winning percentage among trainers with more than 150 starts, following Ron Burke (27.4%).

THREE-DAY RACING SCHEDULE

This week will feature our regular fall schedule, with racing on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons, all at 12:45 p.m.
