Cousin Margie turns tables on Fancy Hill in Northville distaff

Northville, MI — Cousin Margie and driver Lindsay Moen turned the tables on Fancy Hill and driver Skip DeMull in capturing the $9,500 Open Pace for mares in 1:56.3 Friday night (Nov. 3) at Northville Downs.

When the wings of the starting gate folded, Cousin Margie shot right to the lead and never looked back, putting up fractions of :28, :57 and 1:26 and stopping the timer at the finish in 1:56.3. Fancy Hill charged home for second, three lengths behind, while Danikova got up for the show.

Cousin Margie, a daughter of McArdle-Save My Tootsie trained by Joe Stevens for owner Jessica Stevens, notched the 20th victory of her career.

Driver/trainer David Lake and owner David Beachy teamed up for a hat trick, winning with Rose Run Vincent, Some More Prince and Yjuliahos.

Northville Downs welcomed former Michigan Senator Curtis Hertel Jr., who announced the post parade for the night’s first race before taking a ride in the starting gate for race two.

Racing at Northville resumes Saturday (Nov. 4) at 7 p.m. with a nine-race live program and simulcast action from the Breeders’ Cup, at Santa Anita.

Northville Downs races every Friday and Saturday night through Nov. 25 with a 7 p.m. post time. For live racing dining reservations, be sure to call Northville Downs in advance at 248.924.2073.
