Verruso, Sheridan victorious at Big M

East Rutherford, NJ — With just two MADC races and perfect weather conditions on Friday (May 31) night, speed or just off the leader is where you wanted to be.  This proved pivotal in both races.

In the second race on the card, it was a field of eight trotters that went to post, and after a grind to the top by favorite Jive Ninety Five (Newton “Yogi” Sheridan), he looked like he was destined to pick up where he did last week and win the first of two races.

He held the lead into the stretch but tired and came off the rail just enough for pocket sitter Fashion Cantab(Anthony Verruso) to sneak up the pylons and pick up the victory by half of length.  Closing well for second was Zlatan (Pearly Allen), while Landia (Tony Beltrami) also closed well for third.  The Mike went in 1:57.1.  The 5-year old gelding is owned by George Beck out of NJ and is trained by Symon Spicer.

In the seventh race, after a quarter move by the big favorite Muscle Factory A (Newton “Yogi” Sheridan), he was able to ration out the speed and overcame all challengers to win easily by just over a length in a fast mile of 1:51.4.  Pocket sitter Machlicious (Tony Beltrami) finished second while Rock On Line (Tony Verruso), who sustained a first over journey to round out the trifecta.   The 9-year old horse is co-owned by Sheridan out of NJ along with Team Tritton Inc. out of NY and is trained by Shane Tritton.
