Tetrick wins nine 2-year-old qualifiers at Harrah’s Philadelphia

Chester PA — The 2-year-olds went in 12 qualifying heats at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Tuesday morning (June 11). Driver Tim Tetrick was the dominant force, winning nine of the dozen freshman contests.

Tetrick won all three of the events for 2-year-old trotting males, with the fastest being the 2:00.4 clocking turned in by Fashion Green, a Greenshoe–Fashion Athena gelding who came home in :29.2 after a pocket trip to win for trainer Jim Campbell and Fashion Farms.

Trainer Syl King Jr. swept the two contests for trotting fillies, with the faster being the Tetrick-guided K J The Thirteenth (Il Mago–My Kid Sister), who stepped her last quarter in :29.4 en route to a 2:04.2 victory for Pamela Wagner and Scott Woogen. K J The Thirteenth, third in her first start, was the only winner not making her or his career bow Tuesday.

The fastest mile of the day came in the colt pace, and it was the Cattlewash–Twin B Elite gelding Twin Fury who notched it, going wire-to-wire despite the outside post six in 1:57.2, back fractions in :56.2-:28. Andrew McCarthy drove the Darran Cassar trainee for the partnership of Jessica Cassar, Barry Charles, William Rochetti Jr., and Robert Muscara.

Another in this section who now has a sub-2:00 score to his credit is the Papa Rob Hanover–All Cool Hanover colt Currys Flurry (Tetrick) in 1:59.

Three pacing fillies posted sub-1:59 times and two were handled by Tetrick.

The fastest 2-year-old pacing filly was Stevie Hanover, a daughter of Betting Line–She’s A Fan, who came home in :57.4-:28.1 to win in 1:58 for trainer Jamie Sullivan and owner Frank Chick. Tetrick drove that filly, and also the American Ideal–Ms Cheesman distaff Mrs Cheese, winning out of the pocket in 1:58.4–:28.1 for trainer Scott DiDomenico (who sent out three winners) and his Triple D Stables Inc. Also, already a member of the 2:00 Club is the Captain Crunch–Speedo Miss filly Crystal Coast (Andrew McCarthy) after a 1:58.3 win.
