Trotters complete first DSBF preliminary round at Harrington

Harrington, DE — First-leg Delaware Standardbred Breeders’ Fund (DSBF) action for 3-year-olds wrapped up Wednesday (June 12) at Harrington Raceway with six $20,000 divisions for trotters.

Going Platinum (Corey Callahan) started the night a 2:02.1 winner in the early non-wagering event, the first division for filly trotters. The E L Platinum filly led all the way for trainer Nick Callahan. Glide Along was second with Chinco Mayo third. It was one of four driving wins for Callahan on the card.

Gary Rhodes’ Lovie’s Place ($4.40) and trainer-driver Art Stafford Jr. won the second division as the E L Platinum filly rolled from the pocket to edge pacesetter Daburg in 1:58.3. Rip Away was a detached third. Stafford had three driving victories Wednesday.

The third division went to Platinum Proposal ($2.10, Jim Morand) in 2:00.4, over Little Silver and Wolfpack Wilma. Owned by Stuart Chambers, BCJM Inc. and Diving Horse Racing, the daughter of E L Platinum scored her sixth career win and gave trainer Les Givens one of his three wins on the card.

Deborah Warnick’s Royal Beep Beep ($3.80, Montrell Teague) won the first division for colts and geldings in 1:59.4. The Yankee Royalty gelding achieved his fifth win lifetime over Trout Master and Portnoy.

LG’s Bluestone ($5.80, Art Stafford Jr.) won the second division for male trotters in 1:59.3 over Workslikeacharm and Jetsam. The Anders Bluestone gelding notched his fifth career win for co-owner/trainer Givens.

Another Givens trainee captured the final division as Nanticoke Racing’s LG’s Jaxon ($2.20, Jim Morand) was a 1:59.3 winner over Daddy Wags and Chief Funster. The Rolls Blue Chip gelding set all the fractions in his ninth career win.

In the $22,500 Free-for-All Trot, Breakaway Racing and Yorwhollohan Racing Team’s Speed Away ($5.60, Callahan) notched his fourth win of the meet in 1:56 over Remarkable De Vie and That Ole Bar Stool. The Nick Callahan trainee recently surpassed $200,000 lifetime and has 14 career wins.
