Carter opened his hat trick in the third race with Basil Sapienza trainee Lady Harbro ($5), who held off even-money favorite Dice Dice Baby to win the second-level distaff pacing event in 1:56.2. He came back four races later and rallied Kyle Moore trainee Snap Test ($8.20) to a 1:57.2 win in a claiming pace, and he finished his hat trick in race 11, a bottom-level conditioned pace, with John Wagner trainee Barbossa Hanover ($4), who posted a 7-1/2 length win over Straight Jo in 1:56.1.

The 19-year-old reinsman is in the midst of his best season to date in the bike, having steered 64 winners — half of his career total — and his over $400,000 in purse earnings is on pace to shatter his 2023 total of $518,073. On the meet, Carter now has 13 wins, putting him in third place over Russell Foster. Johnathan Ahle and Trae Porter retain the top two spots in the drivers’ standings, with 28 and 19 wins, respectively.

Live racing returns to Ocean Downs with a 12-race card slated for Sunday (June 23). First post is 7:05 p.m. EDT.
