From a young age, he displayed a passion for sports and the outdoors, attending Hamburg High School and later St. Lawrence University, where he excelled athletically. In 1955, he enlisted in the Army, serving his country with honor for two years before transitioning to civilian life.

In 1957, he married the love of his life, Marie, whom he met through a unique twist of fate, Marie’s brother-in-law was Mr. Richardson’s football coach at St. Lawrence University. Their union was a steadfast partnership, marked by mutual support and shared ambitions. Marie’s groundbreaking career as the first woman deputy county executive in Erie County was a source of immense pride for Mr. Richardson.

Professionally, he distinguished himself as the managing partner at Trubee Collins & Co., where he dedicated over six decades to financial services, shaping the firm’s legacy and contributing to its milestone achievements, including becoming the only Buffalo-based company as a member of the New York Stock Exchange at the time.

An avid outdoorsman, he found solace and joy in nature. Skiing was another beloved pastime, and he was instrumental in the Red Jacket ski club in Eden, where his leadership left a lasting impact.

His zest for life extended to travel, exploring Europe, Africa, and ski trips to Colorado with Marie and friends. His membership at Springville Country Club provided a venue for his love of golf, where he enjoyed friendly competition and camaraderie.

His deep-rooted love for horse racing was nurtured by his father, who served as a judge at Buffalo Raceway. This early exposure ignited his lifelong passion for the sport, leading him to actively participate as an enthusiast throughout his life, including driving his horses at local county fair races. In his later years, he remained deeply involved in Buffalo Raceway, serving as president of the board of directors, and continued to pursue his passion for horse racing, achieving notable successes and even competing in prestigious events like the Hambletonian with his trotter Tight Lines.
