Cattlelac Luke lassos fourth straight win at Humboldt (Iowa)

Humboldt, IA — Fireworks were not the only thing hot at Humboldt, Iowa, as harness racing lit up Thursday (July 4) and Friday (July 5) afternoons. Fans in the stands were excited to see Iowa-registered horses compete in their first series of the season.

On Friday, Cattlelac Luke (Chad Svendsen) competed in race four, featuring 3-year-old Iowa-registered trotting colts and geldings. Leaving from the rail, Cattlelac Luke let Mr Royal T Dash (Will Roland) take the front, as he held position on the rail in second. Mr Royal T Dash led the field around the track, setting the fractions in 30.2, 1:01.3 and 1:32.4. Not willing to wait any longer, Cattlelac Luke pulled to the outside and promptly took command. As they hit the stretch, Fast Lill Lou (Rob Anderson) made a charge at the leader but was unable to gain ground. Cattlelac Luke roped in the win, trotting in 2:03.1, capturing his fourth straight victory in his sophomore season for owners Garry Phillips and Chad Svendsen.

Iowa harness racing resumes with a three-day event at What Cheer starting Friday (July 12). Scheduled post time for each day is 12:30 p.m. (CDT).
