Battle of the Big Mouths to raise money for New Vocations

Grove City, OH — The ‘Battle of the Big Mouths Rematch’ Saturday (July 6) at Eldorado Scioto Downs will be raising money for New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program. Donations can be made via this GoFundMe campaign.

Gulfstream Park announcer Pete Aiello will take on Red Mile’s VP of Racing Gabe Prewitt in a one mile race on the Scioto card after the fourth race. Wally Hennessey will start the race using the ‘silver bullet’ Cadillac starting gate.

The original battle took place in 2022 at Pompano Park with $49,620 raised for both New Vocations and the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. New Vocations was chosen this year as the sole beneficiary since they serve both Standardbreds and Thoroughbreds transitioning to new careers after racing.

The Saturday night Aiello vs. Prewitt match race is part of an action-packed evening including four divisions of the $150,000 Next Generation and Grand Circuit action with the Nadia Lobell and Moni Maker. Coverage is available through the Scioto simulcast feed, on Fox Sports 2 from 8-11 p.m. and via the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association livestream, available on their Facebook page, YouTube channel and on HarnessRacingOhio.com.

The 90-day 2024 Eldorado Scioto Downs race meet runs through Saturday (Sept. 14). Races are held Tuesday-Saturday with a first post of 5:45 p.m. each day, except for Friday (Sept. 13) which will have a 6:15 p.m. post to help accommodate horsemen attending the Ohio Selected Yearling Sale. More information about racing at Scioto can be found on the Eldorado Scioto Downs website.
