Races cancelled following accident at Cumberland

Columbus, OH — Following the second race on Saturday (July 20), the card at First Tracks Cumberland was canceled after an accident occurred during the race.

This is the information provided per their Facebook post:

“Live racing for the remainder of our Saturday afternoon card had to be cancelled due to a serious accident that occurred going to the quarter pole in race 2. Drivers Garrett Mosher, Mike Stevenson, and Walter Case Jr. were all transported to local hospitals for treatment. Our thoughts and prayers go out to these horsemen and their families as their health conditions are ascertained. Information will be updated as it is provided. All the horses walked off the track under their own power.”

UPDATE (7/20/2024 8:56 p.m.) – According to First Tracks Cumberland Facebook Page, they have provided the following update:

“As a follow up to our original post, the three drivers involved in today’s second race accident have all been seen by medical professionals, are alert and conscious with no life threatening issues. Several have sustained injuries, however, the extent of those will not be published in this forum. We respect their individual privacy and ask others to do the same. We will continue to keep them in our thoughts for a speedy recovery.”
