Vernon, NY — Syracuse Express and Golden Kronos took the co-features at Vernon Downs on Saturday (July 27).
Syracuse Express (John MacDonald) cruised to an easy win in the $7,500 featured pace.
Syracuse Express ($2.70) went straight to the front and led to the quarter in :27.3 and the half in :57.1. He remained in full control and led to three-quarters in 1:24.2. As they reached the stretch, second-place finisher Le Massif (Steeven Genois) came all-out after the leader, but Syracuse Express had plenty in the tank and won easily in 1:51.2. Major Leaguer (Jimmy Whittemore) finished third.

Syracuse Express is a 5-year-old horse by American Ideal. He is owned by Sal Vullo, James DeArmond, and trainer Jessica Okusko. It was his second win in 2024. He now has 13 career victories.
Golden Kronos (Dan Daley) grabbed the $7,500 featured trot.
Bourbon Express (John MacDonald) was first to the quarter in :27.3. He used a :30.4 second quarter to lead to the half in :58.2. Golden Kronos ($11.00) made his move first-over going around the final turn. Bourbon Express had a short lead to three-quarters in 1:27.2.
As they reached the stretch, Golden Kronos took over the lead. Second-place finisher Sir Jesse (Jimmy Whittemore) gave it a late try but Golden Kronos was too strong and won in 1:55.4. Bourbon Express had to settle for third.
Golden Kronos is a 10-year-old gelding by Chapter Seven. He is trained by Chip Zombick for owners Michael and William Pozefsky. It was he second win this season. He now has 41 career victories.
