Lexington, KY — On Sunday (Aug. 11) the promising Looksgoodinloulou and Kentucky champion Date Night Hanover captured their respective second round legs of the $80,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes Championship Series for freshman and sophomore filly pacers and trotters at The Red Mile.
In the 2-year-old filly pace, Looksgoodinloulou (Yannick Gingras) sprung a pocket trip to score over Duration (Todd McCarthy) and Champagne Room (Andrew McCarthy) in 1:50.2 to set her lifetime mark in her second career start.

Champagne Room led the field of five through splits of :27.1, :56.1 and 1:24,3, but Looksgoodinloulou seized the lead after the three-quarter marker to establish command. Duration, who was sitting in third throughout the mile, came after the leader with a torrid :25.4 final panel. Looksgoodinloulou, however, paced to the wire in :25.3. Champagne Room held for third.
Looksgoodinloulou remained undefeated in her second pari-mutuel mile. The daughter of Sweet Lou and Looksgoodinaromper is trained by Ron Burke. Owned and bred by Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi, Looksgoodinloulou paid $2.22 at the windows as the heavy post time favorite.
Date Night Hanover (Dexter Dunn) made her return to the Bluegrass a victorious one after breaking stride in the $525,000 Hambletonian Oaks final to set a new lifetime mark of 1:51.2 in the KYSS division for 3-year-old filly trotters.
While favored Allegiant (Scott Zeron) controlled the front end of the field of nine through fractions of :28.2, :56.3 and 1:24.3, Date Night Hanover sat in fifth position. The daughter of Chapter Seven-Don’t Wait Up did not make her move until the fillies turned for home. That is when the filly unleashed her closing kick and laid down a :26.1 final quarter-mile to beat Allegiant home. Spy Coast (Gingras) was the best of the rest.
Bred by Hanover Shoe Farms, Date Night Hanover is owned by Jeffrey Snyder and Onda Racing Stable. Trained by Marcus Melander, Date Night Hanover is now 21-6-0-5 lifetime and has banked $471,109. She paid $4.58 to win as the public’s second choice.
Pisco Sour collects second straight in Commonwealth Series
Pisco Sour (Tim Tetrick) scored by a neck over Butter N Syrup (Peter Wrenn) in 1:53.2 to take a $30,000 second leg split of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series for 3-year-old filly trotters. Stubborn Chee (Dexter Dunn) was third.
Trained by Ake Svanstedt, the daughter of Walner-Blessed won the first leg of the series and improved her slate to 5-3-0-1 on the season. Her career record stands at 14-4-0-5 and she has earned $97,370. Pisco Sour is owned by Jorgen Sparredal Inc. and was bred by Steve Stewart, Black Creek Farm and Harri Koskela. Pisco Sour was the post time favorite and paid $5.34 to win.
Tetrick and Svanstedt also won another division of the Commonwealth Series for 3-year-old trotting fillies with Star Attraction. House Of Love (Julien Dubois) was second and Santa Croce (Todd McCarthy) was third.
The daughter of Chapter Seven-Selena G competes as a homebred for Marvin Katz and Al Libfeld. She stopped the clock in a new lifetime best of 1:52.2 in her first win of the season. Star Attraction is now 11-2-3-2 from two seasons of competition and has earned $68,933 in purse money. She paid $10.48 to win.
Favored Rose provided Gingras and Burke with a Commonwealth Series score as the daughter of Sweet Lou-Rosemary Rose improved to 4-3-1-0 with a new mark of 1:50.3 in the second $30,000 leg for 2-year-old filly pacers. Miki And Minnie (Andrew McCarthy) was second and Unreasonable (Zeron) was third.
Rose was bred by Burke Racing Stable, Jason Melillo and Weaver Bruscemi. She is owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Jack Piatt III and Lawrence Karr. Rose paid $2.10 to win as the favorite.
Chakra (Anibal Borjas) defeated favored Three Times Bettor (Andrew McCarthy) by a neck in 1:51.4 to take another second leg split of the Commonwealth Series for 2-year-old filly pacers. Hip Shot (Zeron) was third.
It was the daughter of Lather Up-Holy Trinity’s first victory in just her third trip to the gate. She is now 3-1-1-0 after finishing second in the first leg of this series for trainer Tony Alagna. Chakra is owned by her conditioner and Pryde Stables. She was bred by Crawford Farms. The filly paid $19.24 to break her maiden.
Racing continues on Monday (Aug. 12) at The Red Mile with a first post of 1 p.m. The 18-race card includes two $80,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes Championship events, four $30,000 Kentucky Commonwealth contests, five $15,000 legs of the Kentucky Goldenrod Series and two $10,000 divisions of the Wildcat Series.
