Columbus, OH — Dossie Lee Minor, 69, died Aug. 12, 2024, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Ill.
Mr. Minor was born to the late Henry and Lottie (Bradford) on Sept. 30, 1954, in Starkville, Miss. He accepted Christ and was of the Baptist faith.
He was an entrepreneur that loved the Standardbred horse racing industry. He was a gentleman with integrity and honesty for horse racing. His prize possessions were his horses: Rock N Republic, Naé’s Rendezvous and Toughestofthetough.
He was always the life of the party. The family couldn’t wait to see him at family gatherings. He made everyone laugh until they cried.
Mr. Minor leaves behind a legacy of love that will never end, held now in the hearts and memories of family and friends.
He is survived by his fiance, Monica Hammuck Gates; daughters, Christie and Raven Rupert; sons, Enrico, Laderreck, Devonte, and Craig Taffee; sisters, Louis Gandy, Ada Prater, Mary (Clifton) Brooks, Bessie Williams, Sandra (Glover) Young, JoAnn, Tasha Jones, Rose Lindsey, Mary Jones, and Pamela Gibbs; brothers, Willie, Charles (Gloria), Melvin (Telisa) Jones, Jodie (Elizabeth) Outlaw, Keith (Shunta) Lawrence, Claude (Gloria), Edward (Lakia) Jones, and Walter.
Funeral services will be Friday (Aug. 23) with visitation from 9-10 a.m. and service from 10-11 a.m. at Ruby Funeral Services & Crematories, 1520 East Washington Street, Springfield, IL 62703. Interment at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
