Columbus, MN — The field is set for the 2024 Steve Wiseman Memorial final Sunday (Aug. 18) at Running Aces. Eight talented trotters will line up behind the gate in race seven to battle it out for a purse of $35,000.
Domovoy (Triumphant Caviar) has been tabbed as the 4-5 morning line choice from post one and will have the services of driver Jacob Cutting for trainer Edwin Quevedo. The 4-year-old has won four of his seven local starts including a 6-3/4 length score on June 23 when he stopped the timer in 1:53 to shatter the Aces previous trotting track record (1:53.4). Domovoy was a 1-1/4 length winner in 1:54 in his Wiseman elimination on Aug. 11.
All Champy (Explosive Matter) is a relative newcomer to Running Aces and is the 4-1 second choice on the morning line from post three, posting a strong second place effort to Domovoy in that same elimination heat last week. The 10-year-old is the richest entry in this year’s Wiseman field, boasting a career bankroll of $616,100. He will be driven by Lemoyne “Mooney” Svendsen for trainer Kathie Plested-Wiseman and owner Stephen Chambers.
Rounding out the top three on the early line is Yo Lucky Moni (International Moni), who won his elimination last week in 1:55.1 and sports four wins from ten seasonal starts for trainer Williams Hernandez. Luke Plano will be in the bike from post eight.
The Wiseman final is the feature on a big 12-race program that has a special “Whatever It Takes” themed night and will benefit the Colon Cancer Coalition. As per tradition, there is also a Wiseman night hat giveaway.
Sunday is also Pepsi Family Night with specials and kid’s activities as well as trout fishing, food trucks, Sole Survivor handicapping contest and losing ticket drawings. Post time on Sunday is 6 p.m. (CDT).
