Springfield, OH — Open pacer Risenshine Seaside topped the 69th annual Blooded Horse Sale, held Tuesday (Aug. 27) at the Champions Center, in Springfield, Ohio.
Racing competitively in Pennsylvania and Ohio, the son of Downbytheseaside had already earned $58,465 in 14 starts this year for consignor Burke Racing Stable. Cory Kreiser purchased the gelding for $75,000. The Burke Racing consignment also featured the solid Hoosier Park conditioned pacer Flirtin JK, who was purchased by William Hart for $38,000.
Sale runner-up honors belonged to another Open pacer, Odds On Blockchain, consigned by Spring Haven Farm, agent. Luke Hanners signed the ticket for $45,000 for the son of JK Endofanera with lifetime earnings of $202,431, including $66,120 this year racing in Kentucky.
The yearling portion of the sale saw 139 yearlings going to buyers from 14 states and Canada. Pump Action, a son of Ohio stalwart Long Tom, was purchased by Rosy Weaver for $29,000 from Walnut Valley Equine. Dublin Valley Farm’s consignment was led by the What The Hill colt Dublins Sidney, with Dalton Walls signing the ticket for $28,000. Midland Acres’ consignment included the filly Nice Set Of Pipes from the first crop of Summa Cum Laude. She was purchased by Dana Parham for $22,000.
Yearlings will again be featured at the Nov. 20 Blooded Horse Fall Sale, along with a wide variety of racehorses and breeding stock.
