Vernon, NY — PL Princess C (Aaron Byron) used a late move to capture the $8,500 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Vernon Downs on Friday (Oct. 4).
The Hunt Is On (Leon Bailey) was first to the quarter in :28. She used a :29.4 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.4. Alta Merida N (Chris Long) came first-up to challenge heading around the final turn. The Hunt Is On was first to three-quarters in 1:26.2.
As they reached the stretch, second-place finisher Alta Madeira (Chris Long) took a short lead as PL Princess C ($3.90) came flying down the lane and blew right on by to win in 1:54. Unusual Clarity (Ron Harp) finished third.

PL Princess C is a 5-year-old mare by Thinking Out Loud. She is trained by Paul Long for owners Charlene and Jeff Long. It was her eighth win of the season and her 18th career victory.
Leading driver Leon Bailey had a hat trick, giving him 124 wins so far this season.
