The Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners’ Association Board of Directors has named Sharon Roberts its Executive Director as the association continues to serve the harness horsemen and women in Maryland.
Roberts was selected after Cloverleaf received applications from, and interviewed six, qualified candidates from all sectors of the Standardbred industry.
“Sharon has knowledge and experience relating to harness racing and Cloverleaf SOA,“ said Cloverleaf SOA’s Vice President Frank Milby. “The hiring committee decided that Sharon would be able to hit the ground running with our priorities with her extensive knowledge of Maryland’s harness racing industry.”
Roberts was the Executive Vice President from 1997-2017; she retired as Executive Vice President of Cloverleaf SOA and went on to manage Annapolis Contracting, Inc.
“I am honored that the Board of Directors has entrusted me with their confidence. We are at a crucial juncture in the State of Maryland, and I am positive that with my historical knowledge and relationships within the state and industry, we can keep this industry moving forward,” said Roberts.
Roberts has been a part of harness racing in Maryland since the 1970s. Her husband ‘Bib’ Roberts is a trainer, and was a leading driver and trainer in Maryland for many years. Their son is a driver and their daughter operates her own training stable on the eastern shore of Maryland.
