Vernon, NY – Quarrel (Chris Long) captured the $8,500 featured Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Vernon Downs on Friday (Nov. 15).

Quarrel ($5.20) went straight to the front and led the first quarter in :30.2. She slowed things way down with a :32.1 second quarter, which probably won her the race as she was first to the half in 1:02.3. Big favorite PL Princess C (Aaron Byron) made a first-over move heading around the final turn. Quarrel got to three-quarters first in 1:32.
As they reached the stretch, PL Princess C came all out after the leader but fell just short as Quarrel won by a neck in 1:59.4. Unusual Clarity (Ron Harp) finished third.
Quarrel is 5-year-old mare by Always B Miki. She is owned by Karma Racing Inc. and trained by Rob Harmon. It was her fifth win this season. She now owns 16 career victories.
Jimmy Whittemore had a driving grand slam. He got his wins with Glory Ghost $2.80), Sir Jesse ($9), Billy Vee ($3.20), and Mttnage A Trois ($18.40). Rob Harmon and Leopold Sawyers had training doubles.
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on 2024 closing night on Saturday (Nov. 16) starting at 3:05 p.m.
