While the French Prix d’Amerique horses had a day off, Swedish San Moteur with Björn Goop started in the Legolas Memorial at Åby Racetrack in Gothenburg, and what a performance the 7-year-old trotter gave.
Even though there were strong horses like Ônas Prince with Per Nordström and Barack Face with Adrian Kolgjini in the field, San Moteur dominated and won by more than 20 lengths in 1:55.1f (mile rate).
San Moteur is one of the eight horses currently qualified to start in the Prix d’Amerique at Vincennes on Sunday (Jan. 26).
In Italy, the focus was on the 2-year-olds at the new San Siro track in Milan. European record holder Ginostrabliggi (sired by Muscle Hill) with Gabriele Gelormini and trained by Phillipe Allaire started as undefeated and remained so after Saturday’s race. Ginostrabliggi won comfortably in 2:00f (mile rate) and earned 75,440 Euros for the victory, bringing his career earnings to 176,960 Euros.
The filly division was won by Giovaz (sired by Maharajah) with Antonio di Nardo and trained by Gennaro Casilo. Giovaz is the best filly of her generation so far and has now earned 171,300 Euros.
Both races were run over 2,100 meters — 1-5/16 miles.
