Dover, DE – Wehadababyetzaboy exploded in the stretch and won the Blue Hen Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover on Thursday (Jan. 2) night.
Adam Twelve left alertly from post seven and grabbed the early lead reaching the opening quarter in :26.3. Leave It To Leo waited for the dust to settle and was parked out. He ultimately cleared the lead in front of the grandstand. Leave It To Leo led the field to the half in :54.3 (:28). A squadron of pacers maneuvered up the backstretch on the rim. Hundred Dollar Man was the first to move to the outside but went off stride. Mack avoided the breaker after following a second-over journey. Itsrockandroll A shadowed third-over. Wehadababyzetzaboy waited for his opportunity from dead last and from an impossible spot. The lukewarm betting favorite Adam Twelve hugged the pylons in the pocket.

Leave It to Leo continued on the lead and eyed the three-quarters in 1:23.2 (28.4). However, the back field was in motion and closing fast. Mack maintained a 1st over drive but that bid stalled. Itsrockandroll A, last week’s winner, circled three-wide past the three-quarters. Wehadababyetzaboy was launched four-wide and steamrolled past the field in the stretch to win by two and a half lengths in 1:53. He paid $24 to win.

Itsrockandroll A finished second and Adam Twelve was third. There is a Pick-4 carryover of $2,405 for Monday.
