Chicago, IL – On Friday, Jan. 17, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker announced the appointment of Julie Ullrich to serve as a commissioner on the Illinois Racing Board.
Since 2005, Commissioner Ullrich has been a leading sales manager with Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants, where she currently holds the role of catering and special events manager. Prior to her career with Lettuce Entertain You, Ullrich worked for the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Racing Commission.
“With the appointment of Commissioner Ullrich, the State of Illinois is getting a professional with entrepreneurial spirit and leadership skills who has strong roots in the Midwest racing community,” said Domenic DiCera, IRB executive director. “I am looking forward to working with Julie. Her experience with the Michigan Department of Agriculture will be a real asset as we move forward with the growth of racing in Illinois.”
Commissioner Ullrich’s lifelong love of horses began at the age of 10, working in stables and on a guest ranch in Wyoming caring for the horses. After graduating from Michigan State University, Commissioner Ullrich worked with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Michigan Office of Racing Commissioners. Joining the Illinois Racing Board will allow Ms. Ullrich the opportunity to return to the agriculture industry and help lead Illinois racing into a new era.
