France — The 11-year-old mare, Emeraude de Bais with Franck Nivard won the Grand Criterium de Vitesse de la Cote d’Azur on the track in Cagnes sur Mer – in second place followed the field’s other 11-year-old trotter, Etonnant with Anthony Barrier.
Emeraude de Bais, who has been runner-up to Vivid Wise As and Vernissage Grif in this race the previous two years, could now return to the winner’s circle after a fine performance on a sloppy track.
The winning time 1.53.4 – the purse for the winner was 90,000 Euro.
Emeraude de Bais, trained by Benjamin Goetz, is sired by Repeat Love – Repeat Love is a full brother to Love You, but has not had the same succes as Love You, and today’s win was the first in a Grade 1 race for a Repeat Love off spring.
With today’s win, Emeraude de Bais has now earned 1,169,760 Euros in her career.
The race favorite, Go On Boy with Romain Derieux attacked around the last turn, but in the middle of the race he became rough gaited and made a break and was disqualified.
