Northfield, OH — One of Northeast Ohio’s most popular late closer series, the Iron Maiden Series, is set to kick off at MGM Northfield Park on Saturday (April 5).
The series, which starts off the spring season at the Home of the Flying Turns, is divided into four divisions by gait and sex. Conditions are the same for each division: “Non-winners of 1 pari-mutuel race (Ohio-sired NW2) or $15,000 lifetime through March 31, 2025.”
There will be four $8,500 legs and a $20,000 guaranteed final for each division.
The Iron Maiden Series does not require any pre-nomination or entry fees to compete, and horses can join the series in any leg they choose.
To qualify for the final, horses do not have to race in all four legs, including the opening leg.
Draws for the Iron Maiden begin on Tuesday (April 1) for the Filly & Mare pacers to be raced on Saturday (April 5); next is the draw for the Colt & Gelding pacers, Wednesday (April 2) to be raced on Sunday (April 6); that will be followed by the Colt & Gelding trotters on Thursday (April 3) to be raced on Tuesday (April 8); and will be rounded out by the Filly & Mare trotters that will be drawn on Friday (April 4) to be raced on Wednesday (April 9).
