Saratoga Springs, NY — Young pacer Bartertown (Stay Hungry) moved his record to two-for-two in the early stages of his career when on Wednesday afternoon (March 26), the 3-year-old cruised to an open-length victory in a $7,500 race for young colt and gelding pacers at Saratoga.
The Michelle Crawford-trained Bartertown parlayed a pocket trip to his maiden win last Wednesday (March 19) and in his second lifetime start moved out to the early lead with driver Brett Crawford.
Bartertown settled in on the front end and appeared comfortable throughout before powering away to win decisively in 1:57, a new lifetime mark.
Bartertown, who is owned by Dragon Tales Farm Inc,, had three strong qualifiers last season as a 2-year-old but didn’t record his first lifetime start until his March 19 try. The gelding appears poised to have a strong spring and summer if the first two starts are any indicator of what is to come.
Live racing resumes on Sunday at Saratoga with a first post time set for 12 p.m.
