Montague, NJ – Edward “Eddie” Zitone, passed away surrounded by his loving daughters on April 29, 2025. He was 89 years old.
Eddie was a lifelong resident of Montague, New Jersey. He was a co-founder of Zitone Construction, established in 1958; Big Z Stables, established in 1972; and owner/operator of the Matamoras Golf Driving Range. He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. He was a lifelong member of the Montague Fire Department and the Montague Hunting Club.
Eddie loved anything John Deere. He loved to restore John Deere tractors, pedal cars, and loved participating in the parades with these tractors. He was an avid golfer and member of the Port Jervis Golf Course. He loved to hunt and looked forward to it every season. In the 2024 hunting season, he got his last seven-point buck. He loved to run the roads of Montague.
Eddie is survived by his children, Karen Brunnabend of Bethlehem, PA, Alicia Schular, and Darryl Schular of Matamoras, PA, and sister Joyce Zitone Helms of Milford, PA, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Joyce Schular Zitone, his parents George and Mary Zitone, his brother Joe Zitone, and sisters Lorraine Zitone Bergstrom, Helen Gassmann, and Evelyn Dalrymple.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday (May 3) at St. Thomas The Apostle RC Church, 210 US-206, Sandyston, NJ. The funeral procession will form at 12:15 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Private Cremation to follow.
