Nichols, NY – Elegant A and driver Tyler Miller captured the featured $13,000 fillies & mares pace at Tioga Downs on Friday (July 18).
Alabama Hannah (Jim Pantaleano) was first to the quarter in :27. Gia’s Surreal then took over with a lap to go and was first to the half in :56. Elegant A made her move first-up heading down the backstretch and was nearing the leader when they reached three-quarters in 1:24.1.
As they made the turn for home Elegant A and third-place finisher Gia’s Surreal kept slugging it out down the stretch. Second-place finisher Lady Saturn (Brett Crawford) made a late bid in deep stretch but fell a neck short as Elegant A won in 1:52.4.
Elegant A ($7.30) is a 7-year-old mare by Somebeachsomewhere. She is owned by Pollack Racing and trained by Jeff Cullipher. It was her sixth win this season and the 25th of her career.
Ridge Warren drove four winners on the card. He got his wins with Catch A Peek, Shutupanddrive, Marshall Zhukov, and B Like Cruiser.
