At the Enghien track in Paris, the Italian 4-year-old Frank Gio (sired by Face Time Bourbon) with Matthieu Abrivard in the bike returned to the winner’s circle while the 3-year-old Ginostrabliggi with Gabriele Gelormini surprisingly had to settle for second place.
After disappointing at Solvalla on Elitlopp Day and later in a major race in Modena, the Sebastien Guarato-trained Frank Gio with Matthieu Abrivard was back as a winner and secured victory in the Group 3 race, Prix de Milan over 1 5-16 mile in 1.56.2f.
Frank Gio, who has been serving as a stallion for the first time this year, won the Group 1 race, Prix Ourasi on Prix d’Amerique Day and is considered to be the next big international star from Italy.
Expectations have also been high for Phillippe Allaire’s 3-year-old Ginostrabliggi, who has proven to be superior to his peers in Italy.
But after today, he has now been defeated twice when competing internationally.
At Solvalla, it was Wise Guy (sired by Face Time Bourbon) who bested Ginostrabliggi, and this Saturday it was the French Mat Manathis (sired by Booster Winner) with trainer/driver Alexis Prat in the sulky, who overcame Ginostrabliggi and won the Group III race, Prix Henri Cravoisier in 1.53.2.
In the two Group III races, there was a first prize of 40,500 Euros each.
