Washington, PA — The weekend started on Saturday afternoon at The Meadows with the “Grade 1” Adios eliminations and the Arden Downs for 2-year-old colt and gelding pacers. Saturday night the action went to The Meadowlands for four, 3-year-old Tompkins-Geers events and up at the Spa in Saratoga for the “Grade 2” Joe Gerrity Memorial for Aged pacers.
On Sunday afternoon, we moved up to the Bay State for the “Grade 3” Clara Barton for Aged pacing mares and the “Grade 2” Spirit of Massachusetts at Plainridge. Of note, Sylvia Hanover set a new world record for aged pacing mares on a 5/8-mile track in 1:47.2 for HOF driver, Tim Tetrick.
This week will begin at The Meadows on Saturday afternoon with 2-year-old Arden Downs for colt and filly trotters and 2-year-old filly pacers. Highlight of the day will be the “Grade 3” Adioo Volo and the “Grade 1” Adios pace for the orchids. I had to dig through the moving boxes to find a purple frock to be properly attired.
The evening events will move to the East at The Meadowlands for the greatly anticipated 100th Hambletonian and Hambletonian Oaks eliminations. Both are “Grade 1” races. The card will be complimented by Tompkins-Geers stakes for 3-year-old colt and filly pacers along with the 4th leg of the “Grade 3” Miss Versatility for Aged mare trotters.
