Vernon, NY — Unusual Clarity (Ron Harp) and Forty G’s (Roman Lopez) grabbed victory in their respective co-featured events at Vernon Downs on Friday (Aug. 8).
Unusual Clarity ($6.60) took the $7,500 featured fillies and mares pace.
Pearl Washing Tan (John MacDonald) was first to the quarter in :27.1. She used a :30.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.3. She cruised to three-quarters in 1:25.3.
As they reached the stretch, Unusual Clarity popped out of the two-hole and went on by in deep stretch to win in 1:53.1. Pearl Washing Tan had to settle for second. Ideal Entry (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) finished third.

Unusual Clarity is a 10-year-old mare by Betterthancheddar owned by Nicholas Gibides and trained by Harp. It was her second win in 2025. She now has 41 career victories.
Forty G’s ($2.90) charged late to capture the $7,500 featured trot.
Lous Lancelot (MacDonald) was first to the quarter in :27.3 and first to the half in :57.3. Kinnders Hotblood (Frank Affrunti) came first-up to challenge heading around the final turn. Lous Lancelot led to three-quarters in 1:26.1.
As they entered the stretch, second-place finisher Lous Lancelot and Kinnder Hotblood continued to battle. Third-place finisher Zapaca (Steeven Genois) slipped through on the inside as Forty G’s came flying four-wide to blow on by to win in a lifetime best of 1:54.2.
Forty G’s is a 4-year-old horse by Muscle Hill. He is owned by trainer Lopez along with Donna Duer and Mitchell Frair. He is now seven-for-seven this season and 12-for-13 lifetime.
