Grove City, OH – MGM Northfield Park is hosting four $20,000 divisions of the fourth leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series for sophomore filly trotters on Monday (Aug. 11).
Seven winners from prior legs will be going for their second BSS victories of the season, three of which — Iwillmakeuproud As, Sweet Rose’, and Wild As You — are in the second division.
Sweet Rose’ (Chris Lems) is the early 8-5 favorite. The Matthew Burkholder trainee has hit the board in all three legs of the BSS, highlighted by a win in the first leg in 1:59.1. The Marseille filly finished second in the second leg and third in the third leg. She has won six of 15 lifetime starts. Also a winner in the first leg, Wild As You (Tyler Smith) is the 7-2 second choice. Trained by Chris Beaver, the Muscle Up The Goal filly has hit the board in 11 of 14 seasonal starts with six wins. Iwillmakeuproud As (Trevor Smith), a Lionhunter filly who posted a win in the third leg after finishing second in the first leg and third in the second leg, is 12-1 and will leave from the outside.
The fourth division features third-leg winners Long Armof Justice (Tr. Smith) and Rose’s Destiny (Luke Hanners). However, Aunt Lilly (Aaron Merriman) is the 5-2 morning-line favorite. The Uncle Peter filly has two wins in 11 starts this season and is trained by Jason McGinnis. She has five career wins and $185,590 in earnings in 21 starts. Rose’s Destiny is the 3-1 second choice. The Tami Hartman trainee won her BSS race in a lifetime-best 1:54 and has four victories this season. Long Armof Justice is 15-1. The Mark Winters trainee has two wins in 14 seasonal starts, including the BSS victory in a lifetime-best 1:54.3.
Travel Nurse (Hanners) is the 2-1 morning-line favorite in the first division and will leave from the rail. Trained by Virgil Morgan Jr., the Enterprise filly has three seconds and two thirds in 10 starts this season. She was a runner-up in the second and third legs of the OSS. Leaving beside her in post two is 5-2 second choice Fervor (Ty. Smith), a What The Hill filly with two wins in 13 seasonal starts. Trained by Beaver, she was third in the second leg and second in the third leg. Countn On Cc (Kurt Sugg), a winner in the third leg in a lifetime-best 1:56.4, was the runner-up to Wild As You in the opening leg and is the 7-2 third choice. The Full Count filly is trained by Miles Wollam.
Up, who posted a win in the opening leg in 2:00 and was the runner-up to Rose’s Destiny in the third leg, is the 3-1 second choice in the third division behind 5-2 morning-line favorite Stars In My Crown. Stars In My Crown (Ty. Smith) has hit the board in 11 of 17 seasonal starts with seven wins. The Marseille filly is trained by Herman Hagerman. Up (Lems) is an Uncle Peter filly and Burkholder trainee with two wins and two seconds in nine starts this season.
