Solvalla, SE — $155,000 was the purse for the winner, Bicc’s Tobee, trained by Maria Törnqvist and driven by Dwight Pieters in the prestigious Margareta Wallenius-Klebergs Pokal – formerly known as the Jubileumspokalen – a Group 1 race for 5-year-old trotters.
Swedish Bicc’s Tobee (sired by Tobin Kronos – he by Muscle Hill) led from start to finish and won convincingly ahead of Danish Icebreaker with Carl Johan Jepson and Norwegian Powwow with Lars Anvar Kolle.
For 37-year-old trainer Maria Törnqvist and her partner, Dwight Pieters, this was their biggest victory ever, and already now, the Törnqvist stable has earned more money than they did in the entire last year.
The stable’s win percentage is currently at 27% – there are 88 horses on the training list.
The European Championship for mares was also on the program at Solvalla, and for the second year in a row, the now 7-year-old Clarissa (sired by Exploit Caf) with her trainer/driver Alessandro Gocciadoro won – closely followed by Olly Håleryd with Ôrjan Kihlström.
The purse for the winner was $105,000.
