Vernon, NY – Seven Grand (Sarah Svanstedt) captured the $112,100 featured New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for 2-year-old trotting colts & geldings at Vernon Downs on Friday (Aug. 29).

Seven Grand ($6.40) was first to the quarter in :29.1. Titans Mischief (Matt Kakaley) then took over control and led to the half in :58.4. Secured (Dan Daley) came first-up to challenge as they went around the final turn. Titans Mischief was first to three quarters in 1:28.3.
As they reached the stretch Seven Grand popped out of the pocket and passed second place finisher Titans Mischief to win in 1:57.4. Read The Room (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) came late to finish third.
Seven Grand is a 2-year-old colt by Chapter Seven-My Abigail. He is owned by Little E LLC, Soderberg Bloodstock, Van Camp Trotting, and trainer Ake Svantstedt. He now has two career victories.
Jimmy Whittemore had a driving double. Harry Landy had a training double.
