Vernon, NY – Sakebomb Blue Chip (Chris Long) grabbed the $4,500 fillies & mares’ race of the day at Vernon Downs on Saturday (Aug. 30).

Made Of Mischief (John MacDonald) led to the quarter in :27.2. Sakebomb Blue Chip ($5.80) then took control and led to the half in :56.3. Red Carpet Ready (Jimmy Whittemore) came first-up and challenged for the lead going around the final turn. Sakebomb Blue Chip was first to three quarters in 1:26.0.
As they reached the stretch, second-place finisher Red Carpet Ready and Sakebomb Blue Chip continued to duke it out. Captain Catch (Steeven Genois) slipped through on the inside as third-place finisher The Moma Dance (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) came flying four-wide. Sakebomb Blue Chip used one late surge to win in 1:56.3.
Sakebomb Blue Chip is a 7-year-old mare by Roll With Joe. She is owned by Gerard Stuchbury and trained by Darren Rybka Jr. It was her fifth win this season. She now has 12 career victories.
Steeven Genois, Jimmy Whittemore, and Dylan Huckabone-Miller all had driving doubles. Fannie Saul Beaulieu had a training double.
