With perfect weather of warm afternoons and sunshine, this past week in Lexington began on Friday with Grade 3 International Stallion Stakes events for 2-year old pacing fillies and colt trotters. Saturday starred 2-year-old pacing colts and 2-year-old trotting fillies.
Sunday was the third leg of the Trotting Triple Crown, the Grade 1 Kentucky Futurity and Kentucky Filly Futurity, for 3-year-old trotting colts and fillies. The card also featured the Grade 2 Tattersalls pace for 3-year-old colts and the Grade 2 Glen Garnsey for 3-year-old fillies. Three-year-olds and up Allerage Farms Grade 3 events filled out the Sunday card. There were many, many new lifetime records, stake records and even world records along with a million-dollar filly out at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.
This week is a light one as we move closer to the Breeders Crown eliminations at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The Grade 3 Courageous Lady leads on Saturday at Northfield, with 3-year-old Reynolds pacing divisions at Plainridge along with Colonial trots for 3-year-olds on Monday.
