Anderson, IN – While the meet still had 23 race dates left, Harrah’s Hoosier Park surpassed its all-time record handle for a single season on Thursday, Oct. 16 as it soared past the previous record of $124 million for a 160-day meet.
“We’re thrilled with the results so far in 2025 and appreciate the support from horsemen and horseplayers alike for what has been a record-breaking year,” said Gabe Prewitt, Vice President and General Manager of Racing at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. “We still feel like there is a lot of opportunity for growth in 2026 and beyond and look forward to finishing out the record-breaking season with tremendous racing over our final five weeks of the meet.”
The previous record of $124 million was established in 2023 when Harrah’s Hoosier Park hosted the Breeders Crown for a third time, of which, total handle from Breeders Crown related cards was over $8 million. Without hosting a Breeders Crown and down slightly in average field size from a year ago and in an industry which is down nearly 8.5% year-over-year, Harrah’s Hoosier Park handle has continued to soar in 2025. 21 times in 2025 the handle for a single card has eclipsed the $1 million mark in, while the previous record was 13 in 2023. The Hoosier Champions card on Oct. 10, which was broadcast nationally for the first time in the event’s history this year, saw a record handle for a non-Breeders Crown card of racing at $1.77 million.
The 2025 season at Harrah’s Hoosier Park marches on with racing Wednesday though Saturday until Nov. 8 before going to a Thursday through Saturday schedule Nov. 13-22. The 32nd harness meet will end with a two-day Friday (Nov. 28) and Saturday (Nov. 29) closing weekend before racing returns next February to the Anderson oval. First Post daily is 5:30 p.m.
