Batavia, NY – After landing in North America earlier this year, the Aussie pacing mare Elegant Woman A has steadily made her way up the class ladder and saw her efforts crest at Batavia Downs on Wednesday (Oct. 22) night when she won the $11,500 AA-Open Handicap for fillies and mares in impressive fashion.
Elegant woman A (Drew Monti) got away third behind Delta Three N (Joe Chindano Jr.) who led the field to the half in :57 through the rain over a sloppy track. The race rounded turn three and headed up the backstretch, where Monti pulled Elegant Woman A first-over and quickly surged alongside Delta Three N before crossing-over to the front as she entered the final bend. Once on top, Elegant Woman A swelled up and ran off the screen by 4-½ lengths under a line drive to win in 1:55.4.

It was the seventh win of the year for Elegant Woman A ($6.06) who is owned by Vogel and Wags Nags, Jack Rice, her trainer Maria Rice and her driver Drew Monti.
In the $8,800 Class-A fillies and mares pace, Rightfully Mine (Kyle Swift) was last at the half before pulling second-over behind Day To Party (Drew Monti) in pursuit of the frontrunning Major Megan (Dave McNeight III) who led the group to three-quarters. It was there Swift tipped Rightfully Mine three-deep and took the lead as she made her way down the stretch to a 1:57.4 victory.
It was the fourth win of the year for Rightfully Mine ($5.92) who is owned by Monique Cohen and trained by Chris Petrelli.
Drivers Dave McNeight III and Drew Monti and trainer Chirs Petrelli all had three wins apiece on Wednesday night.
Live racing resumes at Batavia Downs on Friday (Oct. 24) with post time at 6:00 p.m. and there will be a $7,032 carryover in the Jackpot Super Hi-5 pentafecta in the 13th race.
