Sweden — On Saturday (Oct. 25), Swedish betting company ATG launched its new betting format, V85, which replaces the well-known V75.
In the new format, players must pick the winners of eight races, with payouts also awarded for seven, six, and five correct picks.
The cost per line is just 0.50 SEK – about five cents.
The premiere took place Saturday afternoon at Jägersro, and the first V85 race, featuring the elite class, had a heavy favorite in Francesco Zet, trained by Daniel Redén and driven by Örjan Kihlström.
But Francesco Zet didn’t get an easy trip and was parked outside the leader, A Fair Day, driven by Oscar Ginman.
A Fair Day, trained by 71-year-old retiree Elisabeth Almheden, won convincingly, while Francesco Zet held on for second place just ahead of Immortal Doc with Björn Goop.
The turnover for the new betting format V85 reached 145,316,108 SEK – roughly 15.5 million US dollars.
The payout for eight correct picks was 175,601 SEK – or approximately $18,701.
