Dover, DE- Huntress won as she pleased in the Fillies and Mares Winners Over Select at Bally’s Dover on Wednesday (Nov. 5) night. Driver Allan Davis wasted no time in sending Huntress quickly to the front at the start of the race and controlled the race tempo. Laurel Court grabbed a seat in second. Misty Coast watched the action along the pylons in third.

Huntress, the 1/5 betting favorite, sped past the opening quarter in :27.1. Without any pressure, she was able to back off the half in :57.2, a :30.1 quarter. Huntress then started to open up a lead passing the three-quarters in 1:24.4, an amped up :27.2 quarter. Melody Hanover was parked out in fifth but was spinning her wheels and was a non-factor.
In the stretch, it was a rocking chair ride to victory. For Huntress who won by three-quarters of a length in 1:52.1. She paid $2.60 for the win.
Huntress (Huntsville) is owned by Manklin Creek LLC. of Berlin, Maryland. Eric Ell trains and Allan Davis drove. It was Mr. Davis’s fourth driving victory of the night. Laurel Court finished second and Ragtime Red closed to finish third. Tomorrow Bally’s Dover welcomes three legs of the Matron Stakes for two-year-olds which takes place on races 8,12 and 14.
The undercard features three DSBF eliminations for Two Year Olds and carries a purse of $20,000 per race.
The $28,500 Blue Hen Open Pace features the best pacers in the area.
