Saratoga Springs, NY — Can Am and trainer/driver Phil Fluet continued their recent hot streak on Wednesday (Nov. 12) at Saratoga Casino Hotel with a 1:57 win in a $10,000 pace for developing colts and geldings.
Since Fluet claimed him in late September, the 4-year-old American Ideal gelding scored a decisive coast-to-coast victory on Oct. 22 and won impressively from off the pace on Nov. 5.
As the 4-5 favorite on Wednesday, Can Am got away third in the eight-horse field and sat patiently as 7-5 second choice Romantic Lou (driven by Wally Hennessey) cut the first half in a soft :59.4. Can Am powered up first-over approaching the five-eighths pole and crept closer to Romantic Lou, who was still nearly two lengths in front at three-quarters in 1:28.3. The pacers sparred around the final turn before Can Am imposed his will in the stretch to beat Romantic Lou by a length.

Classic Jim (Jimmy Devaux) earned third.
The win was the sixth on the year and the third in the last four starts for Can Am, who is owned by Joseph Stanislowsky. He paid $3.84 to win.
Live racing at Saratoga resumes Sunday (Nov. 16), first post is 12 noon.
